On the Case with Paula Zahn is examining the murder of Andre Montgomery Jr, who was shot dead by his own uncle, former Sweetie Pie’s reality TV star, Tim Norman.
Andre and Norman had both starred in the Welcome To Sweetie Pie’s reality show on the Oprah Winfrey Network. Norman publicly portrayed himself as a dedicated and loving family man who liked to help out his community.
However, in reality, Norman was a cold-hearted killer who arranged the death of his nephew so he could claim on a life insurance policy.
On March 14, 2016, 20-year-old Andre was gunned down at a house in St Louis, Missouri. The killer, Travell Anthony Hill, shot Andre with a .380-caliber handgun.
Hill later pleaded guilty to his role and claimed that Norman had paid him $5,000 to kill Andre. Hill was aided by Terica Taneisha Ellis, who told Hill where to find Andre.
Ellis later confessed to the cops that Norman had paid her $10,000 to assist in the killing. She claimed she didn’t know Andre was to be shot, but she admitted to knowing Hill intended to cause him some harm.

Another individual, insurance agent Waiel Rebhi Yaghnam, admitted to the cops that in 2014, he had helped Norman issue a life insurance policy worth $450,000 on Andre. Yaghnam also confessed to assisting Norman in claiming the money after Andre’s murder.
Watch the Latest on our YouTube ChannelHill, Ellis, and Yaghnam all turned on Norman, pleading guilty and testifying against the murder’s mastermind. Despite their testimony, Norman has continued to claim innocence.
A week before his conviction in March 2023, Norman claimed on social media federal agents had destroyed his reputation and knew he was innocent.
Tim Norman sentenced to life for ordering murder of Andre Montgomery
Eventually, Tim Norman was found guilty of the murder of Andre Montgomery Jr and sentenced to life in a federal prison. Travell Hill was sentenced to 32 years, and Ellis and Yagham were both given three years for their roles in the murder.
After Norman’s conviction, Andre’s mother, Michell Griggs, told the court, “Greed brought this, he [Norman] wanted power and wealth.” Griggs later told reporters, “Victory. Finally, I can breathe…. Justice was served. Justice for our Andre. He’s not just a statistic. It’s a well-known fact that he got his justice.”
