The police in Abilene, Texas, have detained Alek Isaiah Collins on suspicion of killing two women, Samantha Cisneros and Taryn Allen, and injuring a young girl before abducting a baby near Clovis, New Mexico.
Collins is accused of kidnapping 10-month-old Eleia Maria Torres and committing the murders on Friday afternoon. The cops located baby Eleia and Collins at a home in north Abilene on Monday, May 6.
Eleia is currently in protective custody and undergoing a medical evaluation but is thought to be generally uninjured.
The 23-year-old Cisneros and 23-year-old Allen were last seen with Cisneros’s two children, baby Eleia and her five-year-old sister, driving in a silver minivan at a Dollar Tree near Clovis. A short time later, two men came across the minivan at a park with Cisneros, Allen, and the five-year-old lying beside the vehicle.
The two women had been shot and were pronounced dead at the scene. The 5-year-old was suffering a head injury and was transported to a hospital in Lubbock, TX. She is expected to make a recovery.
Deputy Chief of Clovis Police Trevor Thron said on Sunday of the 5-year-old child, “Our hearts are with the victim and her family during this incredibly difficult time, and we fervently hope for swift and complete recovery.”
Clovis cops immediately issued Amber Alert for baby Eleia Maria Torres
The cops found an infant car seat, stroller, and bottle, which, when they realized Eleia was missing, led to an Amber Alert.
Watch the Latest on our YouTube ChannelOn Sunday evening, the FBI notified the cops in Abilene, TX, that the suspect, 26-year-old Collins, was in their jurisdiction. Yesterday afternoon, the police put a house under surveillance and spotted Collins. He was arrested, and Eleia was rescued without incident.
The cops said that Collins is unrelated to his victims, and they are still working to establish a motive.

Collins is now facing charges of two counts of first-degree murder, one count of first-degree kidnapping, and two counts of child abuse.
The Abilene police have also accused Collins of aggravated robbery and assault of a Peace Officer.
