Investigation Discovery is re-airing the Lethally Blonde investigation into the suspected murder of Christian Obumseli by his girlfriend, social media star and model Courtney Clenney, at their luxury apartment in Edgewater, Miami, Florida.

Clenney, who calls herself Courtney Tailor on social media, where she has millions of followers, has admitted to stabbing her 27-year-old boyfriend, Obumseli, but claims it was in self-defense. She is currently awaiting trial on charges of second-degree murder.

On April 23, 2022, Clenney called the cops to the apartment she shared with Obumseli. The officers found a blood-soaked Clenney and Obumseli lying on the floor with a stab wound in his chest. He was transported to a hospital but was soon pronounced dead.

The wealthy couple had been dating for nearly two years, but their affair was later described by Miami-Dade prosecutors as an “extremely tempestuous and combative relationship.”

Clenney and Obumseli had recently moved to the luxurious apartment complex from Austin, Texas, but local residents had already made moves to have the pair evicted due to their frequent loud, aggressive arguments.

The social media influencer told the cops she was defending herself from Obumseli. Clenney claimed her boyfriend had pushed her and thrown her to the ground, so she had flung a kitchen knife at him from 10 feet away.

Police believe Courtney Clenney deliberately stabbed Christian Obumseli

The coroner refuted Clenney’s claims, stating that Obumseli’s injuries suggested the knife was plunged into his chest by someone standing directly in front of him.

Clenney was arrested a few months later in Hawaii, where she was undergoing treatment for PTSD and substance abuse at a rehabilitation facility.

She was extradited to Miami-Dade, where she is currently awaiting trial for second-degree murder.

Prosecution and defense debate who was the abuser in Courtney Clenney murder case

The suspect’s legal team is claiming their client was a victim of domestic abuse, but the prosecution contends that Clenney was the abuser in the relationship, and they have uncovered videos that allegedly show her abusing Obumseli.

Obumseli’s brother, Jeff Obumseli, has claimed Clenney was the main aggressor in the relationship and has condemned the police, accusing them of not arresting Clenney sooner because she is a white, wealthy woman.

In a twist on the case, Clenney’s parents, Deborah and Kim Clenney, were arrested earlier this year on suspicion of trying to access a laptop belonging to Obumseli.

The prosecutors have accused the younger Clenney of giving the laptop to her parents sometime before her arrest, and they suspect there might be clues regarding the murder.

The current charges are based on the parents illegally accessing the laptop, but the police have admitted that it could have been a shared device.

Lethally Blonde re-airs Thursday at 8/7c on Investigation Discovery.
