ID is re-airing The Murder Tapes investigation into the murders of Cindy Testerman and Judy Slebzak by the latter’s stepson, Ryan McGuire, in Rosedale, a suburb of Baltimore, Maryland.

Testerman and Slebzak were neighbors, living across from each other on a quiet residential street, where McGuire savagely murdered and stole from them both in their own homes.

On May 20, 2018, McGuire stabbed his stepmother, 66-year-old Slebzak. He then stole her belongings, which he used to feed his addiction to painkillers, heroin, and cocaine.

A few days after Slebzak was killed, Testerman’s son, Robert Testerman, discovered his 62-year-old mother lying dead in their home. She had also been stabbed and her home ransacked. McGuire had also stolen her 2013 Honda Accord (some reports state the car actually belonged to Slebzak).

McGuire’s crime was uncovered thanks to Testerman’s doorbell security camera, which revealed footage of the killer entering Testerman’s home. The camera then showed McGuire leaving the house and entering the Slebzak home. A short time later, the same camera captured him exiting and getting into Testerman’s car. He had changed his clothes in the meantime.

Two months later, the cops found the Honda Accord in a Baltimore City motel. McGuire was checked into a room under his girlfriend’s name.

The police put the motel under surveillance and arrested McGuire as he made his way to the Honda. A search of the motel room revealed mail and financial documents along with jewelry and other items belonging to his two victims.

McGuire admitted that he had planned to murder Slebzak for weeks and said he killed Testerman because she was asking too many questions about Slebzak’s disappearance.

He directed the police to a chest in Slebzak’s home, where they found her remains.

McGuire blamed his murderous actions on a drug addiction. His lawyer, Gayle Robinson, argued for leniency on the grounds of her client’s troubled childhood.

Robinson said McGuire suffered an unstable childhood and was severely neglected. The public defender claimed that McGuire’s mother had urged him to sell drugs to support the family.

Ryan McGuire convicted of killing Judy Slebzak and Cindy Testerman

The killer pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder.

At the sentencing, the judge said McGuire’s drug addiction “can’t be an excuse for what you did to these two women. What you did was inhumane.”

McGuire was sentenced to two consecutive life terms.

This episode of The Murder Tapes re-airs Tuesday at 7/6c on Investigation Discovery.
