Oxygen is re-airing the Snapped investigation into the murder of Re’Mano Campbell, an Iraq War veteran who was gunned down by Alexander Williams in his home in Prichard, Alabama.

Williams was the boyfriend of Re’Mano’s wife, Eugenia Campbell, and she had asked him to kill her husband so she could claim about $200,000 in life insurance money.

Re’Mano was an offshore oil worker and an Army veteran who had survived an attack from an improvised explosive attack during two tours of Iraq.

Unfortunately, Eugenia had been planning his murder for some time. She had previously asked another man to kill the veteran before Williams agreed to do her dirty work.

On October 12, 2011, Eugenia informed Williams that her husband was on the way home and dropped him off at the house. The killer waited several hours before Re’Mano stepped into the hallway.

Williams shot 32-year-old Re’Mano a shocking 13 times. The killer later told the cops he “pulled the trigger until it wouldn’t shoot anymore.”

The murder triggered an intense investigation that lasted for three years before justice prevailed. At one point, Re’Mano’s family offered a reward of $10,000 for any information about the case.

The cops made a breakthrough in March 2014 when Prichard police and U.S. marshals finally arrested Williams. The following day, U.S. marshals apprehended Eugenia in Mississippi.

After the arrest, Judge George Hardesty denied the murderous couple bail, calling the crime “particularly heinous, atrocious, and cruel.”

Two of Williams’s former roommates came forward to say the killer had bragged about emptying a gun clip into Re’Mano.

Alexander Williams and Eugenia Campbell pleaded guilty to killing Re’Mano Campbell

Eventually, Williams pleaded guilty to the murder and revealed the whole plan involving Eugenia to the police. Eugenia soon also pleaded guilty.

Both of the killers were sentenced to life in prison. Williams is incarcerated at the Elmore Correctional Center, north of Montgomery, AL, and Eugenia is currently housed at the Julia Tutwiler Prison in Wetumpka, AL.

After the sentencing, the victim’s mother, Tamsey Campbell Lee, a former Prichard police chaplain, asked the court, “How is it a wife can do such a thing? He was my first child, and he was my only baby.”

This episode of Snapped re-airs Tuesday at 8/7c on Oxygen.
