Oxygen is re-airing the Snapped investigation into the murder of Linda Jo Stingley, who was brutally killed and robbed by her own daughter Jerrie Lynn Acklin in Batesville, Independence County, Arkansas.

On June 2, 2014, 65-year-old Stingley left an assisted living center in Batesville where she worked as a part-time nurse and was never seen alive again. Her colleagues contacted the police when she failed to turn up the following day.

The cops couldn’t find any sign of forced entry or a struggle at Stingley’s home, but they learned her purse was missing.

A neighbor told detectives there had been a number of robberies in the area. They had noted the license plates of a suspicious car that had been in the area; the car was licensed to Acklin.

A breakthrough came in the case when the police in Bryant, AR, found Stingley’s purse in a dumpster. The cops then learned that someone had been using the victim’s credit cards.

Lt. Mike Mundy with the Criminal Investigation Division said at the time, “We were advised that credit cards were used in various places and credit cards were found being discarded in various places, which eventually led us to being able to locate her. We hope to within the next 24 to 48 hours to actually have someone charged with the crime.”
