Oxygen is re-airing the Snapped investigation into the murder of Kenneth “Ken” Nix, who was shot dead by his wife, Judith Nix, during an argument at their home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Judith tried to stage the murder to look like a suicide, but the cops didn’t buy her story.
Ken was 69 years old when, on March 21, 2016, he was shot twice in the head. The police found Kenneth lying on his back on his bed with a gun placed under his hand.
The cops became suspicious when they learned Ken had been dead for 14 hours before Judith dialed 911. When investigators dismissed the suicide theory and charged Judith with homicide, she tried to claim self-defense.
Two of Judith’s daughters were arrested early in the investigation, but they were eventually released without charge.
The Nix couple married in Las Vegas in 1985; however, their relationship had problems. In 2011, they both separately filed for divorce, and on one occasion, Judith had requested a restraining order.
Judith Nix claimed she killed Ken Nix when he lunged for a gun
Judith’s legal team argued that Ken had become increasingly aggressive and abusive during an argument. The defendant said Ken had lunged at a loaded firearm, and fearing for her life, Judith had grabbed the weapon and fired twice.

Judith Nix convicted and sentenced to life for Kenneth Nix murder
In April 2017, a jury sided with the prosecution and convicted Judith of first-degree murder. The killer was given a life sentence but with the possibility of parole after 38 years when she will be 108.
At her sentencing, the 71-year-old killer apologized to her husband’s family. Family member Kevin Nix told reporters, “Today she got on the stand, and she said that she was sorry, and that is good closure. God says you shall forgive, and hearing her say that she’s sorry, I gotta be sorry too. I gotta forgive and live on and raise my great-grandchild.”
The killer subsequently appealed against her conviction and sentence, claiming her case had suffered from insufficient evidence, improper jury instructions, prosecutorial misconduct, ineffective assistance of counsel, and that the sentence was excessive.
In September 2018, the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals rejected the appeal.
She is currently incarcerated at the Mabel Bassett Correctional Center in McLoud, OK.
