Dateline: Secrets Uncovered is spotlighting the murder of Gregg Smart that was orchestrated by his wife, Pam Smart, and carried out by her teenage lover, William “Billy” Flynn, and three others.
On May 1, 1990, Pam attended a meeting at Winnacunnet High School in Hampton, New Hampshire, where the then-22-year-old worked as a media instructor.
When she returned to her home, a condominium in Derry, she found her husband dead on the floor, laying in a pool of his own blood.
Gregg, 24, had been shot in the head.
The following month, Flynn, Vince Lattime, and Patrick Randall turned themselves into the police after a judge issued a warrant for their arrest.
The police learned through an investigation that the boys knew Pam from school, and in March 1990, she began having an affair with Flynn.
Pam Smart recruited her teen lover to kill her husband
After several weeks, Flynn said Pam began telling him that she was unhappy in her marriage, but if she divorced Gregg, she said she would lose everything.

Flynn said that if he didn’t go with it, she threatened to break up with him, which prompted him to take action and get his friends to help him carry out the murder.
He testified that on the night of the murder, he and Randall entered Pam and Gregg’s condo through bulkhead basement doors that Pam had unlocked before she left.
Raymond Fowler and Lattime waited in the car outside.
When Gregg returned home, Flynn said they made him get on his knees in the foyer. That’s where Randall held a knife to his throat, and Flynn shot him with a .38 caliber revolver that Lattime took from his father.
Evidence linked Pam Smart to her husband’s murder
Pam admitted to having an affair with Flynn, but she denied having anything to do with Gregg’s murder. That’s when investigators got Cecelia Pierce, a teenage girl who had become close to Pam, to wear a wire.
Pam was recorded saying, “If you tell the f**king truth, you’ll send me to the slammer for the rest of my f**king life… If you tell the truth, you’re going to be an accessory to murder.”
The recording was used to prosecute Pam. She was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder and sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole.
All four teens pleaded guilty to their charges.
Flynn and Randall were sentenced to life in prison for second-degree murder. They were released on parole in 2015.
Fowler was sentenced to 30 years in prison for conspiracy to murder and attempted burglary. He was released in 2003.
Lattime was sentenced to 18 years in prison for being an accomplice to second-degree murder and was released in 2005.
