Snapped is investigating the murder of Baptist preacher David “Dave” Evans, who was shot dead by Kahlil Square while he slept in his home in Ada, Oklahoma.
Square performed the murder at the behest of Dave’s wife, Kristie Evans. The pair were secret lovers, and the prosecution would later argue that Kristie manipulated Square into shooting her husband.
On March 22, 2021, Kristie left the back door open and placed one of her husband’s guns outside. Square later arrived, dressed all in black, but began to have second thoughts when he heard noises from inside the house. Kristie found him hiding outside and convinced him Dave was asleep.
Kristie later told the cops she heard a shot and saw Square run out the back door.
She then found her 50-year-old husband bleeding and gurgling. She claimed she held his hand as he died.
The police conducted extensive investigation and questioning, which eventually led to both Square and Kristie admitting their roles in the killing.

Kristie Evans claimed she had been subjected to years of abuse by her husband and that she was a virtual sex slave. She said she was forced to have sex with multiple men while Dave either watched or joined in.
Kristie said she was desperate for an escape, and that’s why she asked Square to kill Dave.
The police say they do not know for sure if Kristie was forced into having sex, but even the prosecution at Kristie’s trial admitted Dave was a sexual deviant and a “dark, dark individual.”
Kristie Evans seemed to brag about being able to convince men to kill husband, David Evans
However, the prosecution also noted Kristie seemed to have a promiscuous side; while in custody, she wrote “pornographic” letters to Square and another inmate. And in one letter, she bragged about her sexual prowess and appeared to hint she could manipulate men into doing murder: “I could wear a man out. Any man would have done it for me after I got through with him.”
According to Pontotoc County District Judge Steven Kessinger, on at least one occasion, Kristie referred to her husband as an obstacle to be removed.
Kristie Evans was eventually convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison. She will be eligible for parole when she is in her mid-80s.
Square was also convicted of first-degree murder and was given a life sentence.
