Snapped: Killer Couples is examining the murder of Bobby Sexton, who was gunned down by his wife’s lover, Michael Fielding, in Cherokee County, Texas.
The police believe Bobby’s wife, Patricia Sexton, had asked Fielding to kill Bobby so they could take his social security benefits.
In November 1997, Bobby filed for divorce from Patricia, and around the same time, Patricia began an affair with Fielding.
A divorce court ruled that Bobby should have custody of their children, which led Patricia to reconcile with her former husband. At the time, Patricia told Fielding she was only pretending to go back to Bobby so she could get the kids.
Patricia asked Fielding if he could get her cocaine so she could plant it on Bobby to get him arrested. She also asked her mother’s boyfriend if he could arrange to have Bobby killed in a drug deal.
Her mother, Linda Bingham, would later testify that Patricia began telling family and friends that the “only way she would ever be rid of [Bobby] was for him to be dead.”
Patricia Sexton insisted Michael Fielding kill Bobby Sexton
In February 1998, Patricia began asking Fielding to kill Bobby. She claimed her husband was raping and beating her, and she wanted him dead. Fielding claimed that he initially refused to do the killing but that she kept badgering him to do it until he finally relented.

Patricia did not take Wright up on that offer, but according to Fielding, Wright did become an accomplice in the murder.
On February 20, 1998, Patricia insisted that Bobby be murdered. Wright reportedly brought Bobby from his home to a spot close by the mechanic shop, where Fielding shot him in the chest at close range.
Fielding and Wright then loaded Bobby’s body into the dead man’s Suburban and dumped the body either in or near the Neches River in Anderson County, TX.
Patricia reported her husband missing to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department, but they became suspicious after she kept changing the story surrounding Bobby’s disappearance.
Eventually, Fielding and Wright agreed to cooperate with the police, and the investigators were led to Bobby’s remains.
Patricia Sexton and Michael Fielding are serving lengthy sentences for Bobby Sexton murder
Fielding pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and was sentenced to 35 years. Patricia Sexton was convicted by a jury and sentenced to life in prison.
Patricia’s grandmother, Dorothy Bingham, was also implicated in the murder, and in 2000, she was even convicted and sentenced to 30 years for engaging in criminal activity relating to Bobby’s murder. However, three years later, she was acquitted and released.
