The Glendora Police Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are investigating a fire and the deaths of two people at a suburban home to the north of Los Angeles.
At around 2:20 a.m. on Monday morning, officers responded to reports of a fire at a single-story home on Danecroft Avenue. The cops and fire crews found the house engulfed in flames.
The first responders found an unresponsive 71-year-old man and a small dog at the home. The man was removed from the scene and later pronounced dead. The dog was also dead.
The police have not stated the man’s cause of death but have said that blood was found in the home, and they are treating the death and the fire as suspicious.
The cops promptly launched a search for the man’s wife, a 68-year-old woman who was last seen on Sunday night at a local high school football game with her family.
Initially, LA County Sheriff’s Lt. Steve De Jong refused to state if the man’s wife was a suspect, instead describing her as “potentially a victim and missing.”

The authorities have since found a second adult body at the scene of the fire. That person has not been identified, but the police suspect it is the man’s wife. The police have not officially named the couple.

The investigation is ongoing, and the cops are reviewing the home’s security cameras.
Glendora couple was going through a divorce in potential homicide case
The couple was going through a divorce, with the wife recently filing papers. De Jong stated that about a month ago, the Glendora police responded to a domestic violence call. The husband and wife both accused the other of pushing and shoving, but no one was arrested.
The 71-year-old man volunteered his skills as an electrician at a local chapel. Parishioners said he was at the church on Sunday when he left abruptly after receiving a call. Neighbor Mike Gregorian described him as an incredibly helpful man who always assisted him with repairs on his house and never took a dime in exchange.
Neighbors also spoke fondly of the wife and said she was often spotted picking up her grandchildren from a nearby school.
De Jong said of the couple’s family, “They are distraught. They are concerned. They’re very worried.”
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Glendora Police Department or the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
I know the victims – a former neighbor. They were both good people – and neither deserved to go out in this manner. God be with and grant strength to the adult kids and to their grandchildren.
Amen.
