Miranda and Elytte Barbour had been married just three weeks when they lured Troy LaFerrara to his death — because they reportedly just wanted to kill someone together. Bride Killa on Investigation Discovery highlights this disturbing case.
The couple wrapped a cord around his neck then stabbed him 20 times in their Honda CRV after he answered an advert on Craigslist, where Miranda had offered “companionship” in return for payment.
She later agreed to meet him for sex, charging $100, but the couple killed him after he got in the car with Miranda in Hummels Wharf, Pennsylvania. Elytte was hiding under a blanket in the backseat and leapt out when Miranda gave the word.
Troy’s body was found dumped the next day in the backyard of a home six miles away in the city of Sunbury. After killing Troy, the Barbours bought a few items to clean the car then went to dinner.
The couple went on to become known as the “Craigslist thrill killers” after police said the pair murdered Troy just because they wanted to take someone’s life.
Watch the Latest on our YouTube ChannelMiranda later claimed she had killed at least 22 other people over the course of six years after becoming involved in a satanic cult at the age of 12. She was also reportedly abused by her uncle as a child and later claimed she murdered Troy after she told him she was 16 and he still wanted to carry on with having sex.
Both she and her husband pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder charges which carried the death penalty, and instead pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. Both were sentenced to life without parole in September 2014.
