Christopher Casey from Upper Moreland Township, a Philadelphia suburb in Montgomery County, has been sentenced after he pleaded guilty to stabbing his neighbor Robert Wallace following a dispute over the killer’s loud snoring.

The 56-year-old Casey pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter after he stabbed 62-year-old Wallace with an army knife.

A Montgomery County court has now sentenced Casey to 11.5 to 23 months, followed by three years probation. He also pleaded guilty to possession of an instrument of crime.

Casey and Wallace lived next door to each other in a duplex and shared a common wall. Relatives of Wallace claimed he was driven mad by loud snoring and was losing sleep, causing him to have difficulty at work.

Their arguments had already become known to the police. Wallace allegedly threatened to kill Casey.

On the evening of Sunday, January 15, 2024, Casey dialed 911 following a major altercation. The cops arrived to find Wallace lying about 50 feet from the house and suffering multiple stab wounds.

The police found an army-style knife on Casey’s porch, and they detected blood both inside and outside the house.

The investigators said Casey was having his dinner when Wallace removed a screen from a first-floor window on Casey’s house. Following a verbal altercation, Casey stabbed his victim.

At the time, the District Attorney explained, “On scene, Upper Moreland police found a large military-style knife and a cellphone on the front porch of Casey’s home. In a nearby grassy area, they found a window screen that had been removed from a window by the front door. The window was open when police arrived.”

An autopsy performed the following day concluded Wallace had died from multiple stab wounds, and his death was recorded as a homicide. Casey was arrested three days later, and bail was set at $1 million.

Casey was initially charged with third-degree murder; however, he decided to broker a deal and opted to plead guilty to involuntary manslaughter.

In court, defense attorney James Lyons told the court that his client had been threatened multiple times by Wallace and he was “a really good man who was not equipped to deal with this type of this sustained abuse and threats.”

At the sentencing, Casey apologized to Walalce’s family and described his feud with his neighbor as “unfortunate.”
